Today, I did a luncheon event at Francis Scott Key Elementary School… and, I tell you what: THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED BY WHAT I SAW. The teachers were awesome (and very thankful for a free lunch, lol)… and the principal, Mrs. Judie Strawbridge, was incredible. I approached Mrs. Strawbridge a couple of weeks ago about the possibility of serving her staff… and from her excitement, I knew right then we had a connection. Today, she got the staff excited about the luncheon, made announcements concerning it, and kept coming through to check on me and make sure I was being treated okay. And ONE THING stood out to me the entire time:
It didn’t take much to recognize it, because leadership always declares itself. And Francis Scott Key Elementary has a tremendous leader at the helm! It’s reflected in their front office staff (no slouching there… those folks keep busy!). It’s reflected in the smile of the teachers. It’s reflected in the cordiality of the staff. You can tell they love what they do… and their leader is very proud of them.
I’ve been to some schools where I’ve felt like I was a nuisance (no comments from the peanut gallery, lol) by the way I was treated. But today… I felt like an honored guest. I can’t wait to get back to Key Elementary on Monday, and continue to serve the teachers…
Francis Scott Key Elementary School is one of the best kept secrets in the PG County Public School system.
