“He is the image of the invisible God…” (Col. 1:16)
I always find it amazing when I look at my sons… especially my two oldest (the youngest looks like his mama)… because they look so much like me! And my oldest… jeez, it’s like looking at myself back in time! 🙂 Now, when it comes to personality… that’s where it starts to differ some: each of my three boys has SOME of my personality traits, but none of them have them all. You can kinda tell what I look like by seeing my sons… but knowing them is still way different than knowing me. If you wanna know who I really am and what I’m really about, you can’t just know my sons… you have to get to know me.
The Scrips teach us that Jesus is the “spittin’ image” of His Father… in every way, and especially in His nature. Hebrews 1:3 says that Jesus is the “exact imprint” of God’s nature… which means we never have to WONDER what God is like! 🙂 WOW!! And the BEST way to get to know what God is like is to learn about Jesus in God’s Word!
Isn’t it an awesome thing that God didn’t leave us to question who He is and what He’s like?? He’s never left us in the dark… He used to speak to humanity in many different kinds of ways, but then – with FINALITY – He spoke to us “by His Son”! (Heb. 1:1)
So, you wanna know what God is like? You really wanna know??
Cool. Simply… look at Jesus.
Get to know who Jesus is by reading and studying the Word of God, and you’ll understand more of who God is and what He’s like… because to know Jesus, is to know God. 😉
